Neszmély Wine Region:
It is situated on the gentle slopes bordered by the Vértes, Gerecse, and Danube rivers. In 1977, it was granted the status of a wine region under the name Ászár-Neszmély Wine Region. In 2009, the name of the wine region was changed to the Neszmély Wine Region. Total vineyard area: 1,278 ha.
Brown forest soils formed on loess are predominant, but there are also rendzina soils formed on limestone and dolomite, as well as forest soils formed on sandstone, marl, and sand. A significant portion of the best vineyard areas are situated at elevations ranging from 150 to 300 meters above sea level on the sun-drenched slopes of the Vértes and Gerecse mountain ranges. It is bordered by the Danube to the north and the Kisalföld to the west. Due to its hilly terrain, combined with warm air currents from the Kisalföld and the influence of the Danube, results in a moderately cool and humid climate, with slightly less sunshine than the Hungarian average—a condition that favors the production of wines rich in aromas and flavor compounds. In addition to the predominantly bold, distinctive white wines, our winemakers also produce velvety red wines of excellent quality in outstanding vintages.
